Finisterra Warehouses | Sagres

Project overview

The Finisterra Warehouses project, located in Porto da Baleeira, Sagres, consisted of the construction of an industrial warehouse and its supporting infrastructure, in a particularly demanding context from a technical and logistical point of view. The proximity to the sea and the natural constraints of the site required rigorous planning, well-founded construction solutions and strong coordination on site.

This project reflects the team’s ability to adapt to complex environments, where control of deadlines, safety and precision of execution were crucial to the success of the project.

General information

  • Project: Finisterra Oyster and Mussel Warehouses
  • Location: Sagres – Porto da Baleeira
  • Type of work: New construction and infrastructure implementation
  • Area covered: 300 m²
  • Budget: €700,000
  • Client: Finisterra

Technical challenges and site constraints

The main feature of this project was directly linked to the natural conditions of the site. Excavations could only be carried out during low tide, which required extremely precise management of working times and constant adaptation to the rhythm of the tides.

This constraint required close coordination between planning, teams on the ground and technical resources, ensuring that each phase was carried out within the available time windows without compromising the quality or safety of the work.

Construction solution

The solution adopted involved the construction of a metal-framed warehouse, built on reinforced concrete foundations and structural elements, providing an efficient response to the functional needs of the space and the requirements of the site.

At the same time, the entire infrastructure network was implemented, including:

  • Water supply
  • Sewerage network
  • Electrical infrastructure

This integrated approach ensured the correct functioning of the building and its adaptation to the activities carried out by the client.

Execution and Coordination on Site

The execution of the project required a constant presence on site, with special attention to the coordination of the different work fronts. The need to intervene only at low tide reinforced the importance of an experienced team, capable of making quick decisions and ensuring the continuity of work within a highly conditioned context.

Strict control of the construction processes was essential to ensure the final quality of the work, respecting the technical requirements defined from the initial phase.

Final Result

The result is a functional, robust building that is technically equipped to meet Finisterra’s operational needs, integrated into a demanding port environment. This project highlights J.A. Duarte & Filho’s experience in executing industrial works and infrastructure in complex contexts, where technical knowledge and adaptability make all the difference.
